Since a young age, Shauna’s life has always revolved around animals. She grew up with her own pets, being active in English and Western horseback riding, and working in farms and zoos. She obtained a certification in pet first aid before starting her studies at Seneca College in the Registered Veterinary Technician program. She subsequently earned a Performance Horse Handler Certificate at the University of Guelph. Her professional background includes roles as a veterinary assistant, groomer, and obedience trainer, providing her with diverse experience in animal care and training. She has a particular passion for responsible Canine Whelping & Reproduction, Equine Medicine & Emergency Medicine.
She has an emotional investment in her career at Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic, where she has worked for over seven years. She says KVEC is much of the reason she is in her career. Over the years, she has found the atmosphere at the clinic to be like no other place she has worked and considers it family. She finds fulfillment in contributing to a branch of medicine that significantly benefits her own pets, all the while recognizing the profound impact she makes in more critical situations, aiding others in need.
Shauna has had her own CKC Registered Kennel since 2012 and has been working with Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers since 2006. As of 2024, she has welcomed 5 generations from the beginning of her lines and has accomplished over 45 CKC & AKC Recognized Titles in Confirmation/ Performance Sport across her pack. She currently owns her own Pack of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers that represent 5 generations and range from 1 to 12 years of age. She competes, shows, trains & grooms her own dogs in various sports. She also has two Maine Coon cats!
